The Oil Wrestler (Film)

Produced by Brian Felsen
Marmara, Turkey

Brian Felsen is a veteran filmmaker who produced an award-winning documentary film about Turkish military coups d’état. Over the years, he has created a collection of photography and poetry works and composed
several pieces of classical music. He was also the former President of CD Baby, the largest online distributor of independent music in the world.

The Oil Wrestler is a feature documentary film about Turkish oil wrestling – one of the oldest sports in the world with an annual festival dating back over 650 years. Every year, 1500 wrestlers battle for a week in 100°F heat, wrestling with olive oil poured all over themselves.

In The Oil Wrestler, Brian wanted to use an animated map to illustrate the routes connecting the Turkish towns of Erdine, Silivri and Biga. After understanding the technical requirements of the project, we worked closely with Brian at each stage of the design process to deliver a modular map for film use.
